IDITAROD TRAIL

Maizy heard the help, and was itching to break free. "C'mon, c'monn..." she said, hoping to arrive to their destination so she could run off.

They ran at each other, and collided with a loud thud, Blue bit Moti and Moti bit Blue back, it was all a big blur of teeth and claws. Finally Moti managed to grab Blue and he threw her across the ground. Blue coughed and staggered to her feet, she snarled and dove back at him. It was a brutal fight

" Oh gosh, I smell a fight! " Navaho looked up to where it was comming from, and hoped it wasn't Blue. But everything in his body screamed that it was, he shivered " We need to get out of here as fast as possible! " he wispered to Maizy.

Blue bit Moti on the flank and he yelped but quickly returned to blow 5 times harder into the side of Blue's head, right below her ear she cried and yelped in pain. She used her paw and threw him off. She bit him harder in the back leg and he yelped again.
Moti stared at Blue then turned and walked away, "its not over!" He growled.
Blue watched as he went off and when he was gone, she collapsed onto the ground.

"Guys! Our destination im miles from here! Well get there in maybe 3 hours!" Nuli growled.

"Aww, come ON!" Maizy stamped her feet hard on the ground but kept running.

Blue lay on the ground breathing deeply, it began to snow and the wind moved her fur back and forth over and over again. She opened her eyes slightly and attempted to at least get in a sitting position but her back ached and the area under her left ear was torn and cut deeply. She whimpered slightly with the wind only to cover it up. The snow was soaked red from the fight and Blue's temperature was dropping. Her wounds bled and she was in great pain. She finally managed to drag her body using her front paws, under a tree where the wind and snow wasn't so harsh, it kept her a bit warmer.

Light nodded and kept going, "Its beginning to snow!" She said in a cheery voice.

"Yes!" Nuli cheered and jumped forward, accidentally bumping into Maizy, "Sorry."

Light laughed slightly and kept going

Maizy grunted, "That's okay," She kept running, watching nothing but the horizon.

Light yawned and said, "Aren't we going to rest at one of the stops?" Then she whispered to Maizy, "Maybe we could look for Blue there...if we do stop"

" I can't take this! " Navaho grwoled and ran harder " I need to get out of this harness! I know trouble is all around us! " Navaho pounded faster and jerked at the sled in frustration.

Light shook her head, "you can't just leave a race you know."

Blue shivered in the cold but was realieved with the snow covering her wounds, it soothed them slightly.

" I know, but I want to..thats for sure..." he leaned into the harness, and from a quick lope, he went into a steady, run, pushing the sled foreward.

"If we go faster, we can get to the rest stop quicker!" Light said and started pulling harder

Navaho nodded " Yup. Thats what I'm doing! " he leaned into the sled again, and made it speed up with a jolt.

Light nodded and pushed as hard as she could.


If i don't get up, I'm going to die here... Blue told herself, she put her good front paw in front of her and used it to lift herself up. She was making progress this time, she stood, a bit shaky, but she was glad she got that far. Then she lifted her other paw and took a step forward, she let out a howl of pain and agony and fell down on the snow, "I am going to die here..." she said out loud, she closed her eyes and lay on a pile of fresh snow

Nav's ears pirked "Blue! " his voice was worried, and his half-smiled turned to a frown " Uhhhh! We've got to get to her and help her! " Navaho thought for a moment, then put his head up and howled as loud as he could.

Blue perked an ear and sighed as she knew it was Navaho she picked up her head and let out a grouchy, rocky howl, she stopped quickly and didn't get much of a sound for it hurt her wounds. She didn't think they could help her anyway, they were going in the opposite direction

Navaho heard the faint howl, and howled back again " I can't stand this! We are going AWAY from her now, and we will never be able to get to her in time! I've got to get out of this harness! " he growled at himself. He was desprate to save his friend.

"We can't!" Light said quickly, "We can't leave the race."

" I know...but..." Navaho looked back and sighed " If we could only go back! " he wispered to himself.

Light sighed and kept running

"But we can leave this race," Maizy urged. "If it's what needs to be done, we're going to have to take a risk.

Light shrugged, "You guys can, I'll try to keep your absence hidden."
