Riverdog Roleplay

Troupe grinned cruelly, setting his own mask down.
"To attention, soldier," he then barked, "Go alert the troops. We start, er, re-decorating at dawn." He dismissed his second in command.

Grubbin removed his mask, stood straight and saluted by tugging his ear in respect before leaving the tent. "Dagrab!" shouted the fox. A ragged black and white rat appeared and saluted,

"Go and arrange the troops"

"Aye Grubbin" said Dagrab before tugging his ear and grabbing a horn and blowing into it, making a loud sound and at once, all kind of vermin soldiers running hurredly to attention outside Troupe's tent.

Troupe sauntered out, this time with his mask on, and with one strong arm pulling his cape over his knife collection.
"Greetings, fellow vermin," he said in a mystical, chilling voice. He then promptly let the cape fall and stood up higher. "From now on, we're circus performers. At sunhigh, I will take my rounds, and if I do not find it satisfactory, then your dear Sargeant here will pay." He was referring to Grubbin, and he knew if he put the fox on the line, then things would get done. Grubbin was not a fan of pain.

Grubbin winced as the badger cheif pointed a large paw at him, the troops roared in understanding, tugging their ears. Grubbin shouted, "Right you heard what the Cheif said, get ready!". The animals scurried off to get ready for the big performance.

Troupe walked back into his tent, sitting down on a treestump and observing a large map of Mossflower. X's were etched in blood on the other reaches, they were markers of the villages Troupe and his troupe had already vanquished. He grinned: they hadn't known what was coming to them, and neither did the Riverbacks and Treefliers.

Grubbin went off to hunt something for Troupe, he walked into the nearby forest and spotted two wood pidgeons, he notched an arrow onto his bowstring and sent the shaft flying. The two birds were killed at once, with the same arrow, they fell to the ground with a thud. Grubbin retrieved his prize and headed back to camp.

"This is excellent," said Falk, eating the famous soup. Lora agreed, nodding her head.
"I can't wait until Springfest, it'll be so lovely. The farmers have really outdone themselves with harvest this year, and already the maidens are coming together to sow costumes and make food to store.

"Why thank ye" said the Skipper before agreeing. "Aye and the entertainment is excellent, hopefully the circus'll be in this season" said the otter before grinning at the thought over his bowl as he drained the peppery liquid.

Grubbin had heard the conversation as he hid in the foliage and snickered, "Oh don't worry, it will be" he whispered, before scurrying off with the two birds draped over his shoulder. The fox arrived at camp, he quickly cooked the birds over one of the many fires that littered the camp and skewered them on a long stick before standing outside the badger's tent, "Sire I have bought you vittles" he said gruffly, waiting to be addressed.

Troupe exited, a little annoyed at being interrupted but proud that Grubbin had hunted without being asked. The fox would go far someday, he thought.

"Oh yes, won't that be slendid." replied Halora, grinning as she took a swig of tea.

Grubbin entered and bowed low, displaying the steaming birds, his own mouth watering slightly from the aroma.

Troupe snatched them both, instantly calculated the smaller one, and returned it to the fox. it was an extremely kind act for him.
"You need your strength." he grunted, turning back into his tent. He did not invite the fox in, but he had an air of importance.
"enter." he finally said, sitting back down at the maptable.

The fox trembled slightly as the badger roughly snatched, his huge paws able to crush Grubbin's skull in an instant."T..Thank you Sire, you are most generous" Grubbin said as Troupe gave him back one of the delicious birds. The fox instantly began to gnaw at it as he sat at the map table.

"This, this is where we need to be to have the best attack on the Riverbacks and Treefliers," Troupe roughly stated, pointing one claw at a thin, scrawled red x between a grove of trees and a large stream.

Grubbin nodded slowly, "Aye, may I suggest we have some archers hidind in the trees on the other side of the stream Sire?, then we can lead our main force from the trees, trapping them" said Grubbin through a mouthful of tender meat.

"Perhaps..." said Troupe absently, calculating. "But they'll expect that. However, if we hide in the upper regions of those trees," he pointed to the grove, "Then they'll never expect it. Our archers can do that, no?" He knew they would or die trying, otherwise it would be a slow and painful death. "And some of our more aquatic troops can hide in the air-bubble gullies here, here, and here." He pointed to three spots on the map, all on the stream. "However, most of us will be preforming. Our main acts will be the famous magician, Dapper the fox" he nodded towards Grubbin, "Jinx the jugglist, Cannon the highflier, and others, all led by the ringmaster, Phantom." He pointed to himself.

"Hmmm aye, thats a good plan sire" said the fox, eagerly rubbing his paws together with a grin.

Skipper yawned and stretched as he pat his full stomach, "well mateys, I best be off to bed before I fall off me chair, gotta get up nice and early for the festivities eh?" he asked with a chuckle.

"of course," replied Falk, Lora and him standing as well. "We've got to be getting back too, I've got early shift tomorrow, in case any more vermin decide to crash the party." The two stoats thanked the otters for their hospitatily and walked home in the peaceful summer dusk gloom.
"It's so pretty," said Halora, looking up at the stars."
"Yeah," was all Falk managed to say, thuogh he was not looking towards the heavens. He was instead looking at the most beautiful maiden he'd ever come across.

The Skipper slept soundly, surrounded by his snoring tribe, he dreamt of food and festivities that the morning would bring.

Falk tucked Halora into his bed in the branches of a thick oak, a small hut made on an especially thick branch near the bottem. He then pulled a blanket over himself and curled up on the floor, completely at peace as he listened to Lora's slow and easy breaths.

Grubbin entered Troupe's tent, "we are ready Cheif" he said pointing outside, where the clanbeasts were all lined up and in costume apart from a large group of archers, dressed in dark cloaks.
