Balto - one of the best animated movies EVER. The characters have unique facial structures and talented voiceactors.

I am SO dissapointed by its sequelt though. I hated Balto2 so much I didnÄt even bother to watch the 3rd. Sad

Ah well, let's talk!

I actually liked Balto II. Very interesting plot and story. Though I thought the more cartoony looking wolves were unnecessary. Just my opinion, though.

I never bothered with Balto 3.

Oh yes, Balto's a real classic! It's one of my favorites Smile this thread reminded me that I really need to get the Dvd!

I actually really liked Balto 2, I liked that they tried to do more with wolves in it, and I really liked the music. But Balto 3 was honestly terrible. If Balto 2 is a fall from the first film, then Balto 3 is rock bottom.

Or so in my opinion anyway xD! It was just too lame all around.

I LOVE Balto. I haven't seen it in a while, though... I need to re-watch it.

I actually own Balto 2, (don't ask me why, I own a bunch of totally random movies) and when I was little, I think I kind of liked it... but then I watched it again recently, and it's not that great. I mean, what is up with the singing mouse? And I can't remember the third at all. But I agree that it is nice that they tried to include his wolf heritage more.

It's been a long, long time since I've seen either of the first two Balto movies, but I remember that I loved the first one. The second one, I think that I liked it too, but not half as much as the first. And the third? I've never even seen it before. :C

Balto, one of my favorites. ^^
The second i also liked, but i was younger when it came out and i watched it again recently and decided that it was poorly made and too rushed for the plot-line, but the concept was really awesome; i liked the wolf aspect and i think that movie is what first got me into drawing them. The third movie had an amazing concept, but the addition of crappy songs and bad animation really shot it down in my book; i liked getting to know Balto's pups though.

I never liked the addition of the polar bears in the later movies, but they were okay in the first. They were always too childish and destracted from the characters i wanted to see more of; also, while Alu aged and became an adult they seemed to stay the same age... What do you all think of the bears?

I absolutely love the first Balto! I love how it sticks the the story of an actual dog named Balto who did something very similar, but they had to spice it up a bit to make it better and longer. The second and third however totally lost the main reason to the Balto story, so I didn't like those as much ><

Balto is quite possibly my favorite movie ever.
It's what first made me love wolves, and I agree with macwolf95 that its really cool they based it off of a true story. The second one I don't have much memory of and the third I have never heard of, however I have the first one on original video and now I have to watch it again, because it just brings back so many good childhood movies. I think it is sort of horrid they tried to make a sequal, but eh, they tried, right?

Balto is the best animated dog movie hands down. The animation is like no other. I didnt care for the sequels either. Didnt they go all the way to 4? Either way, the original is my favorite.

I dunno about the polar bears. I agree that they got annoying in the following movies but were okay in the original. However, although they later became annoying, I'd rather they were annoyingly childish then if they matured. Their childishness makes them stand out as characters. As for aging, I think they were as old as they were going to get at the start of the first movie. I think the running joke was that they're fully grown but they act like kids and treat Boris as their father. I mean, the smaller one (Muk or Luk? I dunno, I used to know which was which. >.<) actually seems pretty mature.

I agree with your other views on the following movies, though. ^^

I absolutely LOVE Balto. It's the movie that got me into drawings wolves and dogs. ^^

Balto 2 and 3 were pretty horrible though. I never understood why they made a sequel for it anyway as Balto 1 was amazing on it's own, didn't need any sequels. They would have been ok as stand-alone movies I think. Luckily Universal has no intention of ever making a Balto 4 though so they won't ruin it nay further.
There is DrewTheWolf's "Balto: The Series" project though which will hopefully be interesting.
